They're finally trying to rename GIMP to something less stupid and somehow the suggested replacements are only barely less bad: * GNU Imp (GNU Image Manipulation Program, restyled) * GNU PIE (GNU Photo and Image Editor) * Glimpse * Clickfix * Wilber

"GNU Imp" is an insane suggestion because imagine doing all of that rebranding work and it still abbreviates to "GImp". "GNU PIE" is also insane because (1) what does pie have to do with anything and (2) it, concerningly, implies the existence of photos which are NOT images

"Glimpse" is a legit good suggestion and by far the best pick on this list. "Clickfix" is just mystifying. Those are your primary associations with image manipulation? Clicking on things and fixing things? It sounds like a budget screwdriver manufacturer

It's a strategy to sandbag, say they tried to make the name different, and then say that they don't need to change the name because nobody likes the new names. I feel like tasking them to come up with a new name will be more trouble than it's worth for the users and devs alike.

Well, there it goes. I would always appreciate when I would tell people that I didn't use Photoshop, and they'd ask what I did for image editing, and I could just say, "Bring out the GIMP." Oh well. Shockingly few people get the reference anymore anyway.
