For Pete's sake, people, you don't "sew dissent", you sow it. Like you sow seeds in a field, planting them so that they grow. Needles and thread are not involved! How does that even make sense

I actually think either metaphor could work (are you planting seeds of dissent and then nurturing it, or are you constructing it from the threads that already exist?), but agree that until the metaphor shifts it is currently "sow".
