Software development isn't going to be a hundred times easier, and a billion people aren't going to become software developers. This is nonsense optimism. But Dark doesn't seem likely to actively damage the world, so I'm going to hold off on the withering scorn for a bit
No one thinks about accessibility up front, which is why we have Discord's clusterfuck, and IDEs are the big offender in programming land. Microsoft sort of has this problem but *technically* has command line compilers and build systems.
I don't like it because it may become the first mainstream programming language of which I am awaer to lock blind people out 100%.
Thanks for flagging this! It's definitely on our radar, and we plan to pay attention to a11y; not just basic aria support, but also testing with screenreaders, braille display, zoom, etc. We expect to hire web a11y expertise and not just wing it.
Thanks, appreciate this! I agree 100x is optimism, though those of us with more experience see much less complexity than our newer colleagues. "Hiding things that we need": we're mindful of this, and want ability to add complex constraints (eg choose your CAP flavor for storage)
That makes it sound like every problem has already been solved, you just need to fill out a questionnaire and the perfect data store (or whatever other component) can be dropped in transparently. Where does that leave innovation? How can you abstract ideas that don't yet exist?
How would you quantify "software development 100x easier"? Just curious so I can compare predictions to future outcomes.
