Ah. The former, I see why that would be important to label designers. The latter is complete coincidence in-world, though, right? (Also, Ra is caltrop-shaped if I recall correctly, so the threefold look is only from certain angles.)
Funny you should bring that up! It's not a complete coincidence. Someone in the Wheel Group snuck into the committee which designed the symbol

Partly it was an in-joke and partly it was intended to make it so that if ever anybody observed the real Ra, the international reaction would be "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING HOLY SMOKES WE NEED TO STAY AWAY FROM IT" (Not that it would have worked)
