A long time ago I read what I think was an Arthur C. Clarke book in which they'd fixed global warming by plating the Sahara with mirrored foil, increasing the Earth's albedo. So... would that work

One of the things I always wonder about albedo and global warming is whether the contribution of clouds to albedo would be negligible (since global warming surely means more evaporation and thus probably more clouds, but it's probably a very simplistic idea)

This page shows a map of the albedo changes from 2000-2011. The Sahara doesn’t seem to cover that much surface area compared to the oceans (which I assume have a greater impact on climate) https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/84499
