    I have decided. In the same way that `arr[0]` is the first entry in the array, the "first floor" of a building should mean floor 0 (at ground level) Also floor -1 is the top floor

        The French get this right. Rez-de-chaussée == ground floor. When they say "Premier étage" (literal english translation: first level) they're talking about the floor above the ground floor.
