The latest Draft Accreditation and Access Model from the Business and IP Constituencies at ICANN is a real doozy. A random selection of the supposedly "legitimate and lawful purposes for access" to non-public WHOIS data under the GDPR include these: https://mm.icann.org/pipermail/accred-model/attachments/20180511/6a48da24/DRAFT-WHOISAccreditationandAccessModelv1.5-0001.pdf … 1/5

Paralegals and private investigators are among those who should have access to your personal information in order to investigate allegations such as defamation, or to identify you as a party to a potential civil action, even before it has been filed. No subpoena needed! 3/5

Facebook, Microsoft, and HSBC are amongst those who should have access to your personal information, and to aggregate it into a database, for purposes of "predicting, investigating, tracking and preventing malicious behavior" even if it's someone else's behavior, not yours. 4/5

The flawed and secretive Trademark Clearinghouse would be expanded to accredit intellectual property rights holders to gain access to your personal information on a mere allegation of copyright or trademark infringement, with no need for approval by a court or judge. 5/5
