When I was in my early 20’s I delivered papers for the New York Times in metro Detroit. I won’t say the city the paper station was located in, but when you have to drive at 2am to the station and your a young black man you look suspicious.

But as usual I’m pulled over in the parking lot of the paper station asked for my drivers license and insurance and registration then I’m told to get out of the car and I’m searched. Now all I have on because it’s summertime. Is a t-shirt shorts socks and gym shoes.
