He was going thru it. U could see the stress on him. When I asked what's up, we got into a whole dialogue about the struggles of indie filmmaking. At this particular moment he hadn't been paid on a video he shot and it was getting to him. But he was still kind and patient.
Being an ex-NFL player, he then tried to put together another film about CTE, casted it and all. Then the Will Smith movie "Concussion" was announced. Which, for those who don't know the black film world, means if one's already being made, we can't do another for a while

He then took what he had, an iPhone, shot another film called “Nine Rides” and premiered at
@sxsw. We saw each other all over the country that year as we were both on the festival circuit with films. Often conversing about the grind, etc. We were even on panel together in ChicagoShow this thread -
had a hard time getting that film out too. As the distro game can be tough sometimes. Didn't matter, he kept going and eventually got it out. He then went to shoot another film that never really materialized for various reasons. Even after this he picked himself up and kept going
