    The stories are usually quite dark, too. Making room for many C-minor tunes that feel sad, which my brain doesn't really want to remember as much as the catchy tunes of e.g. Bubsy

    possibly because when new characters appear, you're in a "a ha!" moment, eagerly reading their stories, and not paying that much attention to the quiet song playing in the background.

    Having a look at FF6 OST (about 3h of music on the SNES) makes me realise that, since they want per-character and per-location themes, the OST ends up huge. Within that, you might have e.g. 15 brilliant tunes and the rest is just so-so, and in-game you don't realise it.

    Too bad for that weird and poorly looped/enveloped thing that is playing the lead part with way too much reverb on it.

    #36: Introduction from Final Fantasy VI. Orchestral music on the SNES works better on this one than on Chrono Trigger. The OST is HUGE. I failed to find the interesting themes that justify the song being rated over Rayman Legends.

    #37: "Lost in the clouds" from Rayman Legends. Brilliant orchestration, signature-sounds and yet I can't help thinking I'd like some SNES games soundtrack better... Some really great tracks, and some really annoying/disturbing ones, here.

    #38: Corneria in StarFox. Isn't the SuperFX doing some FM here ? Anyway, despite the melody quality of Corneria, the rest is not on the same level. And it sure doesn't beat Shatter. Possibly on par with Yoshi's Island. ""

    #39: "Amethyst Caverns" in Shatter. Haven't played the game much, but I'm stuck to the soundtrack. If I was to pick only five soundtracks to take along on a journey, it would clearly be part of them.

    A) nice tileset. The is strong with this one B) this is how 2D people dealt with gun hit/miss luck: short range weapons. > would be fun (?) if you'd deal damage at shown range, but could still knock back foes at long range with the same gun "Gah! 'Got me in the arm"

    I guess would say the same, right? I'm doing way too many checks per frame, am I not ? (2 or 4 tile height check per frame at speeds under 8 pixels/frame).

    #40: "Opening" from Shadow of the Beast. There comes the almighty Amiga and its legendary samples. To our young ears, the sampling artifacts of 8-bit/16KHz gave their own personality to the songs. Redo them in CD quality and they'll lose their soul.
