It's egregious with music.

With other stuff the basic argument is more like “things used to be harder and worse and it bugs me that now it’s easier for people who are younger than me.”

I think it’s fairly objective that music was really terrible after the late 60s and before the late 70s (and often depressing) and improved with new wave groups like the Cars, Blondie, the Ramones, Police. (Though crap continued to be produced into the 80s for the top 40 market.)

While I agreed with South Park that some early Skrillex was ridiculous, I think he’s matured. But overall I think EDM and other contemporary styles have made real contributions. And I get frustrated with anyone over 40 who’s musical tastes froze in the 80s.
