what about virtual machine MACs?

Quite possible, but is there a way to identify virtual Mac addresses? You can always override the defaults, not?

i think qemu, virtualbox and others have each their own pool of mac addresses. but indeed, you can clone your physical address on your own responsibility (collisions)
