The founders were in their 70s and sold their stake and retired. The ceo as far as I can tell has not sold a single share.

You are correct regarding the CEO. He hasn't sold a single share, he's only exercised his buy options so far.

The more interesting thing to look at is institutions increasing their positions multiple times.

I guess my question is this...what's the rush to the door for the founders? Why take the stock public via SPAC which is a shortcut to an IPO and then rush out? You could've held 50% of the stock, left it in a trust and let the business in better hands.
