I've wanted to go to the #BelgianGP since I was a kid. It's a truly spectacular venue and everything I imagined it would be. So childishly excited for the race!

In our #carrcrash #edfringe show I talk about Large Language Models and the success they've had in writing documents that are just like those produced by humans. I asked one "Why do planes land on pyramids?" and it was very convincing but deeply unsettling:

Screencap of this text: "There are a few reasons why planes might land on pyramids. One reason is that the pyramid can act as an air traffic control landmark, helping pilots orient themselves and navigate their way to the airport. Pyramids are also often situated in areas with wide open spaces, making them ideal for landing large aircraft. Additionally, the smooth surfaces of pyramids make them an ideal place for planes to touch down in case of an emergency."

This is absolutely brilliant. I hate the men's world cup being in Qatar but it has paved the way for this competition to have all the attention it deserves

Lost for words. I know how hard this team work for every student. They are not all on stage because they are still at it! It runs deep. Led by Sharon Perera, someone who can teach something to everyone

I'm tentatively looking at CILIP Fellowship (don't fancy revalidating chartership again and my world has moved on). Don't want to pay £100 to register before I know what i'm getting into! Anyone out there who's been through it I could chat to?

The public rightly expect government to be conducted properly, competently and seriously. I recognise this may be my last ministerial job, but I believe these standards are worth fighting for and that is why I am resigning. My letter to the Prime Minister below.

I have spoken to the Prime Minister to tender my resignation as Secretary of State for Health & Social Care. It has been an enormous privilege to serve in this role, but I regret that I can no longer continue in good conscience.

First day and a half of coverage has been brilliant, loads of streams, UHD was amazing, but it’s all gone wobbly now. Macca televised so late all the good bits were way after midnight (no UHD for him and no repeat) and today no live music for hours.

I'm feeling genuine perspective and distance now from those peak-pandemic moments. helping us sift the best bits of the flexibilty, changed relationships and elements of negotiation that were introduced that matter to students

The stations are so calm and easy to use. I’ve made a point of using the exits at both ends at street level because the platforms are so long. The scale is another world. So much so that it’s jarring getting on the Cicle afterwards

When I think about those lonely, risky days running the library for hundreds with barely any of us, who didn’t cross paths, taking the lockdown rules with grave seriousness.. to know this is what No. 10 staff were doing makes me very deeply angry

A senior No 10 aide wrote on a Whatsapp group for staff: "Time to open the Covid secure bar". Minutes later the picture was posted on the group with the message: "The bar is open". Staff exchanged messages earlier in the day, suggesting the event was pre-planned.

1/45 (yes, 45…). Last week, I gave a speech at the Society of Editors. There's been some interest in it so, if you'll indulge me, I thought I'd post it here. I was asked to talk on ‘future of news’. Once I’d cleared up that I definitely don’t know that, I launched in…
