being an atheist isn’t contrary to having a religion except for religions that explicitly say that it *is* a contradiction i.e christianity. many atheists are religious and hold an intentional relationship w/ practices & spiritualities that aren’t mutually exclusive w/ disbelief.
being an atheist means “i do not believe in God”. it doesn’t mean nihilist. it doesn’t mean we think there‘s no mystery or that science is, actually, God. it doesn’t mean religion-hater. it’s justified to say many of us are culturally Christian but many many of us are firmly NOT.
under christian/abrahamic supremacy ppl never realize much of this because christianity so starkly opposes atheism but yea, no, that’s actually very unique to christianity (and similar religions because i doubt you can be an atheistic Muslim, trust me i tried twice.)
