to me an apology is slightly different from expressing that you’re sorry in that apolgizing is about formally admitting that you’re accountable to some sort of wrongdoing or mistake but saying you’re sorry really just translates to “i feel bad”
expressing that you’re sorry can be a proper response because sometimes what you mean is that you “feel bad”. now, if you don’t wanna hear about how someone feels about a situation, that’s fair, but it might be the most that’s owed to you. where will you go from there...?
