if i didn’t date people based on their family i wouldn’t date anyone so all i can say is know your family, know who you bring around them, and know your partner

regardless of inevitably of contact, it is people’s responsibility to remove their partner from harm that their family may dish out. it’s basic harm reduction but like if you don’t know that... yikes

this conversation centers interracial romance w/ a yt person whose family is racist but most people’s families are ignorant and violent on a variety of things even if you date a person who’s your race so the rejection isn’t (just) b/c of the family but the partner’s incompetence
