there is no push for improving public transportation because we developed automobile-centric neighborhoods and towns and the people who rely most on public transit are the poorest among us

in order for that to change we would not only have to throw money at it but rearrange our lives, living spaces, and decentering public projects like highways. but even before then we could make buses simply operate more frequently more days in most places. and we should!
