i mean sampling is essential to hip hop but like? do you really need to know more now to make beats? and did you really not have to do anything but sample back then? seems a lil too either or but i could see this being generally true
yea my impression was it’s easier now? but not sure how knowing how to play instruments is relevant except you can record directly? but anyway yea i learned music theory is just the rules and study of classical european music so that alone makes me cautious
