i’d hate to admit it but it turns out most people do need religion but not so they’ll “be good people out of the fear of God”, that obviously isn’t our reality—it’s because it gives people a more stable sense of identity, self, and ideology

the way religious people act... even if i disagree it’s way more stable than people clearly clinging onto everything that passes by them because they have no authentic, grounded sense of beliefs/self. that’s too bad.

basically this is a very nice way of saying everyone can’t think or decide for themselves and giving people the choice to make up meaning for themselves is for some reason... not automatically a good thing. *english accent* damn
