i think it’s unrealistic that you would never hurt the people you love. “you would never hurt someone you love”. well no. it’s not that simple.

not all harm can be prevented through intent—we should know this very well as adults—and people have individual sensitivities that require personal discretion and constant communication to understand and tend to.

what should be said is that if you love someone you‘d hold yourself accountable as immediately as possible for the harm you caused them and actively avoid harming them the same way; keeping the new info in mind as you continue choosing to intimately engage with the one you love.

all you can say is that you’d never hurt someone on purpose but if you have to declare that in a relationship (you’ve choosen) you simply shouldn’t be there
