i studied under several therapists and there is no mandatory rule that you have to report when a person is suicidal to anyone. not the cops, hospital or your parents. at least in America, they do not HAVE TO tell like it’s not a law or overarching rule.

I have no idea but I can only assume liability or it’s a rule set by the individual practice or therapist. you’re told to use your discretion to keep your patient/counseled as safe as possible which included having us understand the pros + cons of suicide snitching (my own term)
