most slashers and all “non psych horror” horror is very much mental especially since so many of them are metaphors and allegories for trauma, capitalism, etc.

psychological horror is kinda just used to talk up movies in the genre that are “deeper” or horror that’s meaningful and cares about atmosphere but that’s just what a good film is?

do you mean it fucks up your head? you can say that. do you mean the movie is about drama and personal reactions to events? you can say that. “psychological horror/thriller” doesn’t seem to mean anything and has no correlation to what psychology is though
