guilt only matters if the punishment has to do with that guilt obviously if you did sumn bad person + got held accountable that's different!

i really think a lot of it has to do with the fact that we as a culture position death to be the absolute WORST thing someone can go through (which is incorrect) and so that in it of itself is absolution enough.
