while much of the Eastern world and early American animators understand animation as age-less or even equally adult, America treats all animation as for kids and for some reason that translates to bad or childish though it doesn't have to

i firmly believe for kids =/= worse media with less effort and unintelligent humor. additionally for everyone and for kids is a distinction barely made in the US. a lot of animation is for everyone, i.e. Spongebob and a subset is for kids (primarily), i.e. Dora the explorer

the way american adults avoid subbed movies is the same way many of them avoid media when they learn it's animated. i hope for change there
