sexuality is very much a "choice" because living true to yourself is optional. that choice means more than any "innate" feeling ever could.

i find being "out" is actually more meaningful framed within a choice narrative over a born this way one because it takes into account the sociopolitical context you live in and how you come to know yourself. i didn't choose my sexuality but i choose to live it daily (be out).

choice in this way counters the pressures of "out or not" within a binary of born gay or choosing to be. but to be clear no, it's not a choice in the way homophobic argue and i don't mean choice as in "having gay sex is what makes you gay".
