too many people can't differentiate being held accountable and being punished because most people's parents, guardians, and other relevant authority figures never really made any distinction.

people who've chose their relationships with you and care about you are brave and caring for communicating how you make them feel. there's trust to be built and you have to get through your own vulnerability to build meaninful relationships w/o the fear of punishment or guilt.

communication is a collaborative effort though. you have to be a patient, willing person to confront people's wrongs and work accordingly. both sides must have open and honest intentions at that point. continue to choose to do good and be better.
