I don’t know the context behind it but I agree with others that
@chesaboudin is the vessel that is allowing this behavior. I can’t imagine Newsom, Bernie Sanders and Rev. Sharpton supporting this person but they do because it’s about politics than the safety of people2 replies 3 retweets 41 likes -
It's because they understand that safety has to do with something other that a even more pervasive oppressive and brutal
#PoliceState. They know that safety is more about services, than civil rights abuses, they stand for the people instead of for the state.21 replies 0 retweets 2 likes -

Talking in cliches about a society that will never exist is a weak cop out. People are barbaric by nature and no amount of civil services will change that. Only a fool thinks otherwise.

Calling for even more civil rights violations and a even more abusive police state is obviously counterproductive and a much less serious response than calling for the solutions that have been shown to reliably work.https://twitter.com/davidminpdx/status/1416607449985929220?s=19 …

David Menschel @davidminpdx1. Some in the press suggest those of us who want a serious, responsible dialogue about crime (rather than a sensational fearmongered panic about it) are “not taking crime seriously.” It’s nonsense – a petulant demand that we embrace a cynical politics & irresponsible journalism.Show this thread2 replies 0 retweets 1 like -

I'm proud to
#StandWithChesa because I know his enlightened usage of his office has meant realtime epidemiological safety, and a historic reduction in violent crime especially when compared with pro mass incarceration das.https://twitter.com/susieneilson/status/1378059503736778753?s=19 …Paul added,
Susie NeilsonVerified account @susieneilsonReplying to @susieneilson @socallegaleagl1 @meganrcassidyThe broader point is D.A. policies don't appear to have the same effect on crime rates as bigger events like the pandemic and recession. See our chart on San Francisco vs. Sacramento - in Sac, with a more traditional D.A., assaults increased and murder rates increased more pic.twitter.com/U1yAj1Wbsg1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

We couldn’t be further apart in this. I walk around in sf and to a far greater extent Oakland and it’s clear to me neither city is safe. But i got some light reading you should check out. Stay safepic.twitter.com/DkRgWUAZ3X

Exactly, this is why many ask for data sources rather than the massaged PowerPoint slides we often see. Some people don’t get the fact the narrative from DA/Mayor offices doesn’t line up to reality.
