The thing to remember about Benioff is that he’s first and foremost a salesman, and an extremely good one.

He’s selling shit. What a fuck you to SF’s blue collar workers. “We’ll give you a shelter bed when you eventually get evicted, but try to become a millionaire, ok buddy? Don’t you hate poop on the streets too?”

Why does it cost Salesforce less than other companies?
-
Because it’s a gross receipts tax vs a head tax, tax on square footage, etc. despite being a larger employer in SF with more profits, they pay much less. The prop also excludes several kinds of businesses, including banks, which is kinda weird.

Drive other companies out of the city, get cheaper office leases and less local talent competition for Salesforce, all while painting yourself as a social justice hero. Nice one.

He is welcome to cut his own check anytime he wants. His advocacy for higher taxes is not any kind of generosity.

Do you have any data to support that the tax burden will be lower for sf?
