whenever I talk about my air traffic control husband working without pay on Twitter, all I get is hateful remarks about how he WILL & won’t lose a dime. Um YEAH I KNOW that, but what are we supposed to do about Christmas & bills in the meantime? #ShutdownStories

Thank your husband for us and believe me when I say most people (those with hearts anyway) have nothing but Thanks & sympathy for your family. Your husband is not the one who should be forgoing his paycheck. That honor belongs to trump and congress and the senators.

The other thing is that while Government employees will get paid eventually there are contractors and businesses that will never get that money back. This winds up being a loss with a big ripple effect. #TrumpShutdown

Absolutely true. We are lucky we’ll actually GET paid. Contractors have it the worst & many of us rely on their work in ways we don’t even realize.

Exactly. This jackass I used to work with posted that "nobody should be getting upset because for the most part we're not affected." HELLO??? What about the people who ARE?
May you have a very Merry Christmas despite it all.

Thanks Gia. You as well. So discouraging people have lost compassion & the ability to be in someone else’s shoes.

Retired ATC here. I've been through a few shutdowns. Never fun, never easy. Don't listen to those spiteful people. A certain segment of the population has lost their empathy & with it their humanity. You don't need to hear the howlers. I for one appreciate your husband's service.
