If Apple didn’t have Apple Music this would be an “ok” reply. As it stands, Apple is morally, ethically and politically obliged to make the app store totally free and open for music services. Spotify definitely drives a large pie piece of iPhone sales.

I never went into the Apple Store to buy an iPhone with the sole intent of being able to use Spotify. There are plenty of other music services you can acquire for your phone, why haven't they rallied around Spotify?
Maybe because they understand and thrive Apple's guidelines?

Phil. Useful information but you state all other developers have to play by the same rules. But that's not what Spotify are taking about. They are asking if Apple has to play by the same rules as other developers. That is the question to answer.

Fair enough but you can't be selective when addressing Spotifys concerns so what about playing Spotify songs from Siri ?
