I agree with you: think it’s the kid’s decision when they’re older

Right. Like the hygiene argument is so strange to me. Like just learn to wash properly and there should be no issue???

I got a circumcision in my late 30s do to disease and then shrinkage of the opening and I’ll be the first want to tell you it was the worst experience I’ve ever had in my life having to relearn how to do everything and the temporary impotence
-
But if it hadn’t been for disease, would you have done it?

My research showed me that babies can die of shock, nurses who preform them get ptsd, and it’s a simple surgery for another time in life when they can make their own choice. I know someone who had to in their 20’s due to an injury. Not a cake walk, but also manageable with meds.

Indeed. Very risky, for a purely cosmetic ‘procedure’ that leaves someone sexually altered without consent. Here is a list of complications (with links)

This is so contentious for men who are circumcised I find. They have a hard time wrapping their head around the loss of autonomy so they normalize it. I believe it’s the child’s choice once they’re old enough to choose. There’s a good documentary about it on Netflix too.

Ohhhh do you happen to remember the name?
