    It’s old news to most, but I suffer from type 1 bipolar disorder. Coping with depression and mania is part of everyday life for me.

    And people shouldn’t be surprised. But that requires foresight into moods, which I appreciate is not a skill everyone has developed yet.

    If I say I’m quite low for a few days running, it’s easier for me to say “I can’t come into work now, it’s too much”

    For those interested, I do this in two ways: At interviews, I state I have bipolar upfront, then I often tell team mates my mental state
