I'd consider an oblong to be the special case of "rounded rectangle" where the corners are rounded "as much as possible" Or an "elongated circle"; circle with a rectangle between its hemispheres.

in french, oblong exists and I think of it as "more large than tall with rounded corners". But it seems that the first meaning was just "more large than tall" and applied for ex to books, which rarely have rounded corners. So you now my brain is a mess. https://fr.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/oblong
