Discovery: Scala's `unary_?` methods are somewhat (but not completely) unique in that they can be defined to take an implicit parameter block which you can't call explicitly, either deliberately (without rewriting) or by accident.
e.g. object Foo { def unary_~[T](implicit bar: Bar[T]) = 42 } ~Foo > 42 // but nowhere you can specify `T` or an implicit `Bar[T]`

Yep, that was what I was trying to say when I said "rewriting". @StefanZeiger also just pointed out that this is true of all infix operators.
I discovered too that ? is a finite subset defined internally of IIRC 4 symbols instead of something we can override or extend :(
