Jon, I hate to disagree but I do. I think you're on the right track to ruining your metabolism. Your body is going into survival mode and it will be burning less and less fat because you're not gonna get enough nutrients
Muscle (at rest) does burn about three times more energy than fat, but it's a relatively small amount compared to what's used by exercise.

Yes that is true.But in general strength training is so underrated. If you ask anyone they'll tell you they do cardio because they want to burn calories. Cardio makes you miserable and you barely see results. to see results much faster you have to combine it with weights.
