I really don't understand this common attitude that couples should have a say in each other's hairstyle. Especially in the case of a man disapproving of a woman's hair, it seems utterly inappropriate to me.

For us it's continually complaining at each other that the other person's hair is too short

To state the point a bit more moderately - I have no problem with whatever arrangement couples have, so long as they arrive at it mutually (hairstyle, BDSM, name changing, anything). But the "Don't you mind that...?" comments about my relationship (both ways) weird me out.

And she's right, your hair is too short. ;-)

I miss my old hairline.

That's why you need to begin ubiquitously wearing a top hat.

People might start thinking Jon is eccentric. Wouldn't want that.
