      After thinking about this for 10 years I have now concluded that "head +tail" nomenclature is strictly less desirable to "first + rest". Not only because the former doesn't make sense, but mainly because it doesn't make sense.

      I don't like that `rest` is so overloaded, though. Maybe I just need to see it more commonly used in this context to accept it. It's not like `head` doesn't have other meanings...
