I've gone through this at least twice... Did you have any .uk domains? I remember particular difficulty with these, and ultimately they remained stuck at an old registrar for several years. :(

Thankfully, only the .us is giving me hassle. I believe ccTLDs are easier for registrar's to make difficult to transfer out.

Yes, that's true. Having to deal with a Libyan registrar was a reason I killed off implicit.ly... (Though nothing specific to do with Libya.)
