Developers of music recording / production software and products are the worse you can get regarding accessibility. I’m sorry, but all the workarounds and such are a big barrier even for one’s creativity, at least when stuff is some way accessible. The norm is it isn’t. #a11y.
Do you think someone could provide a programmatic interface? I could imagine some sort of "REPL" (P = Play) which would allow you to try things out, but aIso commit them... N.B. I know nothing about music production software. ;)

It could probably be done for some inaccessible products using midi / slash other means (and actually people do that when that is the only option). My point is more on the lines of “this stuff should provide accessibility using OS accessibility APIs like other software does”.

Note that there are accessible software for music production, even profissional stuff like Logic Pro X from Apple. But that is not enough, as many external plugins / instruments / lots of stuff is not…

Weird thing is that there are lots of successful / known blind musicians, it’s kinda annoying this sort of products fall in the bad / nonexistent accessibility category.
-
It seems like software centered primarily around one sense shouldn't make another sense mandatory in order to use it. Seems like a missed opportunity when many blind people have better than average hearing. (I assume that claim isn't just an urban myth...)

I did and do some hacks and workarounds when I need them, but my music creativity is gone at that time :). Sort of first world problems though

I think basic accessibility doesn't really count as a first-world problem... it's not like your avocado's too ripe for your toast or anything... ;)
