Thanks for the writeup! I found it hard to agree with "reason #3", though... it seems like the ease with which an untyped language can accept an error, and propagate it deeper/elsewhere in the program without considering it an error, only makes debugging harder...
The idea of failing early, rather than late, for me is very important. However... I'm utterly biased, having been living in a typed world for my whole career, so take this as another datapoint, rather than universal experience. :)
