@propensive TIL that the Lake District (only this year) became a World Heritage Site. I guess that makes @scalaworldconf the first conf to be held at such a site!

IIRC Cádiz is not a World Heritage Site (at least Wikipedia doesn't mention it)
Thinking back over conferences which might have been at World Heritage sites, and checking their WH statuses, LambdaWorld was the first which came to mind. It's surprisingly not one.

Apparently Edinburgh is a WH site too, so ScotlandJS at least beat you to it. And idk if you'd count it, but the conference party for Curry On 2016 was at the Foro Traiano.
