We also pay for travel costs of speakers' partners if they're coming from Europe. As most speakers are men, this generally has the effect of improving the gender balance at the conference events, and (I hope) makes the environment more comfortable for women.

For what it’s worth, I don’t agree with the accusation. I’m certainly not in the best position to judge, but from my perspective, you’ve worked diligently to ensure an inclusive and supportive conference for all.

Thanks, Daniel. I understand where the criticism is coming from, though: the Scala community is very imbalanced. Every Scala conference looks uninclusive. The criticism just stings when you work hard against it.

If there is a person I found inclusive at Scala conferences that person is you, John. I believe I’m entitled to talk about inclusion, but who knows these days…

It’s a rather surprising statement and it doesn’t match my perception of you and Scala World. I’m curious to know the details of where it comes from.

That's easy Jon: just open the submission, at least some %. For all people who demand to know why I dared to challenge Jon: when someone gathers courage and comes forward, easiest yet dullest thing to do is to discard it as false. Elitism is the biggest threat to Scala community

People asked for more explanation, and I'm glad you've given it. I know you suggested a CfP, but I disagreed because I decided at the outset on a curated programme of speakers based on more than just abstracts. I seek excellence, diversity and coherency in the programme.

Assuming there's missing context here. As such, if the feedback were more pointed/constructive would be of more use imho. My experience and observation is at polar opposites to this feedback though Jon. Cc

I thought you did a fantastic job so far, and I'd love to hear a full critique from Katrin, instead of trying to fit what seems to be a complex argument into a measly 180 characters, which only comes across as almost bullying on this platform.
