  Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's an Atlantic split, due to our labor laws which distinguish between the two. "Fired" says "misconduct" to me...

  Yeah, we have that too. Getting "the sack" is a synonym for being fired too, but that sounds like a British euphemism to me.
