      Long story, but in short: https://github.com/olafurpg/metaconfig … is currently broken on ScalaJS, so I had to improvise.

      The other part of the story is that in HOCON defaults should be in hocon not in code. Not doing that & wanting to cross-build to Scala.js...

      Yeah, we’re in a bad situation there. The principle of least power would suggest we just move to JSON in that case.

      I don't think JSON is a good language for configuration files.

      Human-editability and diffability ARE certainly quite general problems with JSON, though...

      I think they're important enough reasons to consider building another language. Also I think there are a # of other reasons/goals for hocon.

      I’ve read the document. As of today I don’t think the goals justify a new language, if you consider the ecosystem drawbacks.

      I'd be tempted to put a higher bar on introducing a new language, but I never was the multilingual sort.
