Do you happen to know if that path includes "provided" dependencies?

It certainly includes scala-library.jar, but I'm not sure about anything else... maybe try it? ;)

Yeah, without the sbt startup overhead. The other useful bit is you could drop $(hadoop classpath) at front to load correct config.
