I do still wonder whether removing the submit button was a quick hack to avoid exposing a horrendous bug later on. We'll see...
A website designer forgets to include a submit button on a little-used form on their site. So I document.forms[0].submit(), and it worked!

To be honest, I used document.getElementsByTagName("form"), but checked the DOM so I could lie and make it fit into a tweet... ;)
