      Java Serialization will be 20 years old in a few months. It has never worked. You cannot make it work. Please stop. Seriously. Cut it out.

      java serialization for scala functions in Spark and @scalding very often (virtually always) works. It's ugly, but serviceable.

      The super super super annoying thing is afaict it requires a magic marker trait that is rarely compiler checked.

      yeah, maybe we could do an annotation macro that fails if you extend Serializable with any non Serializable fields
