The meat of @fst9000's macro code looks uncannily similar to what I just fumbled towards.
But now we can have bearable syntax!

's macros will probably Just Work with -Yliteral-types. At most very minor changes will be needed.

Yep, it doesn't look like there needs to be any change. :) I'd still like "foobar".substring(3) to return "bar".type...
