@propensive interestingly enough, this doesn't appear to be the case while in the REPL
An expected return type can influence overload resolution: def f(x: Int) = 1 def f(xs: Int*) = "2" f(1): Int // 1 f(1): String // "2"

@NicolasRinaudo In the REPL you'll need to define both methods in an object for them to be overloads. That's a REPL quirk... ;)
